I just installed k9 because I read k9 can store emails onto the SD card. However I can't make it work.in the settings I changed the download folder to storage/extSdCard/Android/data/com.fsck.k9 , but k9 cant put the downloads here. I get error message. In the account settings I use storage location is external SD card, but k9 keeps on using the internal storage.

I guess it has to do something with the write/ read allowances for the SD card? In other apps I get a screen where I have to set this before the app is able to use the SD card. I have a Samsung tablet 2016 with android 6.

Can somebody help me with this?

This is a very annoying issue I am expieriencing too.

Before I changed from Android 4 to Android 7 I always stored my attachments on my SD card.

From the moment on I changed to Android 7 I could set this in the settings of K-9, but it has never worked!

Developers, please start working on this issue!

Other Apps succeed in writing on SD under Android 7.

Amendment!

K-9 could't ever store emails on SD card, but it could store attachments, which doesn't work under Android 7.

Same problem on Galaxy Note 3.
Fresh K9 Mail installed in May 2018
... but k9 keeps on using the internal storage.
I have K9 on Note 4. There is an Account Setting for Storage for every
account. The storage location is set to External Storage (SD Card).

In my internal storage
/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.fsck.k9/files, there are thousands of
files.
In /storage/extSdCard/Android/data/com.fsck.k9/files, there is nothing
(empty directory)

Furthermore in Global Settings, Miscellaneous, Save Attachements To is set
to /storage/extSdCard/K9_attach.
That folder exists, and is writable. (I just exported settings and saved
there). However all the attachments are in local storage in files like
/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.fsck.k9/files/4456

There are no error messages. Why is K9 using the wrong storage?
