Hi,
this is Karl writing from Germany.
I am now using Android One (Oreo-8.1.0) which is the reason I chose K-9
Mail which I did not know before.
K-9 Mail - to my mind - is a fantastic mail client which I would not like
to miss in future.
However, I do have minor issues as far as the interaction of K-9 Mail with
the Contacts-App of Android One is concerned. As I do not know the official
name of that app I have decided to include the respective icon below.
So here are the problems:
1. I have not been able to include the addresses of new (so far unknown)
receivers into a mail to be sent. K-9 is only prepared to accept addresses
taken from the contacts app. So as I am typing the action does abruptly
stop when nothing fitting is found in the contacts app. The only workaround
would be to include the so far unknown address in the contacts app in which
case K-9 would find it there. - I want to underline, that I have checked
the General Setting and found no mistakes - screenshot see below.
2. In case a new mail has come in from somebody not included in the
contacts app so far one would like to include the new address into the list
of contacts of the contacts app. Great, so lets see what happens. The next
disappointment: Klicking on the new address I am asked, whether I would
like to add "zero to contacts?" Look at the screenshot below, you see the
original in German.
If I accept that strange offer, the address will not be found in contacts -
although, strangely, in one case (I have tried again and again) I found the
address but it was added as a second address to a person who has absolutely
nothing to do with the procedure.
Let me add that I have tried to make sure that K-9 Mail is actually
interacting with my contacts app. There can be no doubt about that. There
is no other contacts app. And if I want to write a new mail and for
interests sake I wish to include an address from the list of contacts into
the contacts app it is found by K-9 Mail and the existing address can be
added into the mail without any problems.
Finally, we (my wife and myself) have bought two BQ Aquaris X2 at the same
time - K-9 Mail is showing the same strange behavior on both smartphones
exactly alike.
OK, one would be able to work around these obviously minor problems.
But still, this seems to be extraordinary and worth to be reported I think,
And of course I am curious: Is there a mistake on my side or is it a bug???
Thank you for your patience - if you have taken the trouble to read the
whole stuff...
Regards
Karl
